8 months, 30 days

Dear John,

This week, our friend Laura from San Francisco came for a visit.  You loved her.  I think the blond hair was what did it.  You have a thing for blonds at a very young age :)  We went to lunch at Toast with her and David.

After lunch, we sat outside in the beautiful day and you played with one of you favorite toys with Bella.  Of all things, you current favorite toy is a set of plastic pipes.

You also ate your first Popsicle.  The flavor was watermelon and when you were done you looked like a little vampire with red all over your face.

The one thing everyone always says after meeting you is what a great baby you are.  You are so laid back and happy all of the time.  Your favorite thing to do right now is give hugs to anyone who will take them.  At the gym daycare today, the lady said a little 4 year old boy kept hugging you and you kept hugging back.  You are just precious.  We could not be luckier parents and there is nothing i would rather do than hang out with you.  You are a great little buddy.

Mom

8 months, 26 days

Dear John,
Well, the computer has been broken for a couple of days. But, we're back up and running and we had to update on how much fun we had this Easter weekend! We had a great cookout on Saturday night, where you got to sit with us and eat outside.

You sure were enjoying your peas and avocados. It was such a beautiful evening that we had to spend it outside. I can't wait until you get older and can play out in the backyard with Penny and Bella.

Our friends brought their little 6 week old baby over too. I remember when you were that little, though it seems quite long ago now!

The big thing you have started doing is really trying to talk!  You say "DAA"  or "TAA" a lot, along with your typical raspberries!  It is pretty cute, I just know your first word is going to be "DADDY!"

We also went to the life and science museum.  You had so much fun riding the train and watching the butterflies.  We're going to take you to lots of museums!

It was a great Easter weekend.  We love you so much, bud.

Love,
Dad

8 months, 20 days v2

Dear John,
I had to do two in one day because you made such a big step today!  You are starting your mobility!  First thing in the morning, I stacked up some blocks for you and you crawled your way to them.  Up until now, you belly flop each time you try to reach for something and then wiggle your way to it on you belly.  Today, you kept your belly off the floor!  I haven't gotten you to repeat it yet this afternoon, but we are getting close!!!

Dear John,
Today was the first day that you wanted to share your toys.  Bella especially liked you sharing your food wrapper with her.  You just kept rubbing it all over her nose and smiling at her while you did it.  You two were adorable.

Love you buddy,
Mom

8 months, 20 days

Dear John,

I can't think of a better way to start my day than with you and a nice tall cup of coffee from Bean Traders.  This morning, you were eying my coffee cup like you were ready to steal it from me.  A few more years bud.

8 months, 19 days

Dear John,

We moved into our new home this weekend so mom hasn't had much time for blogging. This post will try to catch us up.

Mom has found a new favorite outfit. I have been calling you my little monster for a while now and Grandma Jasper found you a little monster sweater.  I love the look on your face.  You look as mischievous as the monster on your shirt.

You also started taking your first assisted steps with Dad.  Your favorite thing to do in the new house is walk down the hallway rug.

I will let you guess your favorite thing about the moving experience.  Boxes.  Lots and lots of boxes.  When you aren't playing with boxes, you are buried in paper.

The biggest milestone during our move was you sitting up in your crib.  I heard you wake up from your nap and when I opened the door, there you were.  Sitting up and proud as ever.  You are becoming such a big boy!

Your adopted Aunt Amanda is coming over tomorrow to help Mommy unpack, so I need to get to bed now.  Today, it amazed me how fast our house felt like home.  I realized that what makes a home is just adding family.  The daddy and my PB&Js moved in, this felt like home instantly.  We love you buddy.

Mom

John Plays peekaboo

8 months, 14 days

Dear John,

Today, you started eating your first finger food.  Roasted butternut squash.  It only took you 3 minutes to figure out that feeding the dog was more fun than feeding yourself.  I think from now on, Penny will be by your side every time you eat.  You crack up when she licks your hands clean.  I am not sure who is enjoying it more, you or the dog.

My favorite thing to do every day is to pick you up from your nap.  You give me the best smiles in the world when you are just waking up.

This picture was from you waking up from your afternoon nap.  You were all curled up and smiling behind your binky.  It warms my heart.

Love you bug.

8 months, 13 days

Dear John,
You love playing peekaboo! I can hide behind chairs, walls or even blankets and you get so excited. Sometimes I just go "BOO!", but you're not scared, you just laugh and laugh.

You also love going for walks with the dogs. Bella (the yellow one) and Penny (the black one) love you a bunch and can't wait until you are old enough to play and rough house with them.

We went for a walk at the park, it was a bumpy ride for you!

Love,
Dad

8 months, 12 days

Dear John,
Your Grandma Wendy mentioned that your Aunt Amanda loved playing in boxes.  We decided to put you in a box to see if it ran in the family.  It turns out it did!  You love it when we put your blocks in with you.  You wave your hands up and down and make the blocks jump around you in your box.  You also love playing peek-a-boo over the box's edge.  I can entertain you for about an hour with your box.  I have a feeling it might be one of our favorite toys for a long time.
Love,
Mom

Where to begin...

I decided to be a stay at home mom so that I could experience all of my son's firsts.  After 8 months have gone by since John was born, I realize that I have seen some amazing things but I have been really bad a documenting them!  Hopefully this blog captures some of the magic I witness every day.

As for the title, PB&J are Penny, Bella, and John.  I can't write about a main character without including his sidekicks.  My hope is that one day John can read this blog and realize how much his family loves him and what a special boy he was from day one.  I love you little buddy.
